What is the meaning of releasing a Version?

  • The meaning of releasing a Version is that the EPICS under the Version are completed and ready for deployment on the production environment.

  • It also means that we have reached our goals(not necessarily all goals), we had planned for this month’s Version.

When is a Version released?

  • One of the following two conditions must satisfy in order to release a Version:

    • The Version release date has passed

    • All the Epics in the Version are completed

How to Release a Version

  1. In Jira Software, navigate to your project.

  2. In the project menu, select Releases from the left toolbar.

  3. For the Version, you want to release, select the Version

  4. Click on Release

  5. Your Version will be released.

  6. You are required to notify all stakeholders via mail that the version has been released. You will also mention the list of Epics that are released under this Version in the mail.

When releasing a version you need to ensure that the Version for the coming month must be created in your Jira Software project
